We hope buying with us will feel pretty good - but we also hope that it gives you just that little bit more joy knowing that it not only helps us, but helps in some much bigger ways too.
When starting Bloc & Boon we knew we wanted to create something that had wider reach with the planet in mind. We are making it our ongoing mission to make sure that as a business we evolve and continue to educate ourselves towards making sustainable choices. Just one of those includes partnering with Just One Tree.
For each individual product brought from us, we donate £1 towards the planting of at least one tree.
Who are Just One Tree?
Not only are they a lovely bunch, they are an award-winning non profit CIC removing CO2 from the atmosphere and reversing biodiversity loss through global reforestation.
They support reforestation organisations around the globe, focusing on areas severely affected by mass deforestation. With their partners, they work with communities that are committed to restoring their forests through training, education and employment. Ensuring they are lifted out of poverty, whilst simultaneously improving the environment. They then hire and train local community members to plant the trees, sourcing and planting only native species and caring for the trees from seeds through to maturity.

Joining forces with Just One Tree is just the start of our planet + people conscious journey. One of the best things about working with wood is its sustainability - but it’s about more than just the footprint surrounding the materials we choose. We can’t rely solely on the sustainability of wood as a renewable material to justify being environmentally conscious. After all, there’s so much involved in all aspects of responsible business practice.
We pledge to educate ourselves towards making considered, sustainable choices and strive to improve and develop, as a business that chooses planet and people conscious processes/practices.
Alongside supporting Just One Tree, we view the following as just the beginning which will initially act as the foundation for us going forward…
Sourcing our raw materials from FSC and PEFC certified timber merchants and saw mills.
Use of environmentally friendly and/or 100% natural oil finishes.
Most of the power [weather depending!] used in our workshop comes from solar energy.
Re-using and recycling offcuts for pieces in progress or something new all together.
Collecting workshop sawdust to process and offer to local gardens for use in compost. Hello high carbon and happy plants!
